Description and Applications

The equipment used in digging road tunnels, rail tunnels and stretches of the subway are very complex and require electrical supply. When we consider the conditions in which these machines operate it would be inappropriate to use sources of energy which produce pollution, such as internal combustion engines. The great amount of power required means that medium voltage energy can be used occasionally. For such special applications mixed cables may be required for power, signalling and/or control use, to resist to harsh conditions and be wound around cable drums for transport. For this reason, it is necessary to use particularly sophisticated technologically advanced cable. Similar features are needed in the mining industry and quarries. Cables for this type of use are custom made according to the customer requirements.
